In an area of outstanding natural beauty, Lower Lidham Hill Farm is situated in the Brede valley, one of the more remote and secluded areas of the south of England. Once a grassland farm, the land is now home to the Bluewood herd of Trakehners. Traditional farm buildings and modern facilities have been combined to provide a thoughtfully designed breeding centre for the Trakehner in the United Kingdom. Our close association with the home of the Trakehner has led to a number of mares from the Bluewood herd being stationed in Germany. We regularly add new mares and youngstock to our herd to compliment our bloodlines. Facilities will be available for a limited number of visiting mares to be inseminated using fresh semen from our own stallions. We are in the process of converting over 25,000 square feet of traditional and modern farm buildings to provide accommodation for our Trakehner herd, and facilities for exercising, semen collection, insemination and foaling. A large area has been devoted to a state of the art foaling barn, incorporating CCTV and climatic control as well as a fully equipped AI suite and laboratory. Our mare barn is large and airy, providing year round stabling for ten mares and foals in spacious bay fronted boxes looking out over the Brede valley. |
